Review: Leopard and laces…reloaded

What: Lace-up flats in leopard calf hair by J.Crew

When: Winter 2016

How (Material): Calf hair upper, leather lining and soleebelandi_jcrew_flats_calf_leopard_bis_4

Why (Pros):

  1. Look: Very pretty flats. Unlike the previous lace-up leopard flats, the laces here are made of suede or velvet-like material instead of leather.  Both work though I prefer the leather laces 🙂 ebelandi_jcrew_flats_calf_leopard_bis_3
  2. Comfort: Very comfortable.
  3. Quality: Great quality leather and calf hair.  The calf pattern here is pretty unique, the laces are well made as well.  My only complaint is the heel…too close to the ground in my opinion so I foresee early wear and tear if you plan to walk with these a lot.

  4. Sizing: True to size.

Why Not (Cons): The price…

Sissi’s Verdict: Keeper! What do you say?

Review: Lace pants

What: Lace pants by J.Crew

When: Winter 2016

How (Material): Cotton upper, polyester lining

Why (Pros):

  1. Look: Classic straight line, close to the cigarette pants offered few years back.  The ankle length with the laces = feminine touch. I think tucking the shirt in gives the best look with these pants. And there are pockets!!

  2. Comfort: Comfortable but beware as you sit down that your derriere is still covered up.

  3. Quality: Great quality lace, similar to the pintucked skirt reviewed previously. I am not fond of elastic on pants but it works here. I love the neutral color, would pair well with pretty much any top.

  4. Sizing: True to size but I’d recommend to size up if you like more room in the hip area. However, when you do so, there is extra room in the leg as you see for me…not sure I like the extra leg room because the look is now different from the J.Crew model.ebelandi_jcrew_lace_pants_1

Why Not (Cons): The back elastic but it is manageable.ebelandi_jcrew_lace_pants_2

Weekend Outfit: Falling leaves

Loving the fading orange from this interesting jacket, as well as the leaves and ruffles from the dress….getting into Fall mode! Hope you all enjoyed a great weekend!

African Print Dress: Sleveless and Blue Sticks

I like to design my own African outfits whenever I purchase material to sew.  Below is a dress made about two years ago that I have only worn for the first time this past weekend (shame 😦 ).  Ironically, the pretty color (blue) matches the Quinn Cuffs from J.Crew (purchased without the dress in mind, and reviewed HERE).  The fabric for my dress is a 100% cotton Super Wax by Vlisco.  If interested in purchasing the same material, send me an email or leave a comment and I’ll get you connected with local vendor.

Loving the image enhancements from Instagram 😉

For this outfit, I was after a sleeveless figure with large straps and a flowy skirt. Let me know what you think of the dress.
