  5. Sissi’s pairings: Knee-length dresses, midi skirts or ankle pants/jeans.

Why Not (Cons): Not much, artificial sole works well here at the sale price.

Sissi’s Verdict: Keeper. What do you say?

Review: Dorsay and snakes

What: Elsie D’Orsay pumps in snakeskin printed leather by J.Crew

When: Winter 2016

How (Material): Leather upper and lining, man-made sole

ebelandi_jcrew_dorsay_elsie_snake_1

Why (Pros):

  1. Look: Sophisticated shoes that can be paired as neutrals for almost any outfits.  The heels remove the casualness of the flat version, though both are equally cute (see flats reviewed by Gigi Gone Shopping and Easy Petite Looks and a pairing by Economy of Style). I particularly love the glitter detailing in the lining.

  2. Comfort: Comfortable pair, the pair is a little slippery on carpets (typical with artificial soles) but nothing crazy.
    ebelandi_jcrew_dorsay_elsie_snake_5
  3. Quality: Good quality leather upper and lining, adorable glittery details.  The artificial sole is a deal breaker for me, but it works here.

  4. Sizing: True to size.

Why Not (Cons): The price…and the man-made sole.  Hard to justify a high price tag for man-made soles…

Sissi’s Verdict: Keeper…if you don’t mind the artificial sole (and you get it on pop-back as the pair sold out quickly). I returned mine. What do you say?

Review: Elsie Fabric pumps

What: Elsie Fabric d’Orsay pumps by J.Crew

ebelandi_jcrew_elsie_print_pumps_3

Season: Summer 2015

Material: Cotton upper, leather lining and sole. The print is similar to the geo brushstroke shirt and shorts.

Quality: Very good! I picked the blue print (as opposed to the yellow one) and it’s a nice bright color.  There is no toe cleavage at all, actually the shoes are pretty covered up front which requires a little getting used to for me.  The foot is open between the toe and the heel, which I understand to be the shape of d’orsay shoes.  Heels are manageable.

ebelandi_jcrew_elsie_print_pumps_2

Fit: True to size to slightly large.

Pros: The heel height, the fun print and the sale price

Cons: Covered toes (a little too covered but manageable) and matching the print to regular outfits (will require some imagination).

Sissi’s verdict: Keeper on 75% off super sale.
