The London Africa Fashion Week event ran from August 7th through August 9th. Among the various designers, I.Kollection caught my eyes because this is the first time I have personally seen models to wear the “liputa” or loincloth tied the ‘African’ way. In the case of her presentation, they were more tied western African style. In Congo, we tie the ‘liputa’ on the side, but it was refreshing to see.

New York Fashion Week is underway for Fall Winter 2014 presentation…when we are about to get to Spring 2014! In any case, I am not particularly impressed by the offerings at J.Crew, main items to catch my attention are the pencil and knee-length wool shorts (nicely mixed with deep burgundy!).
However, I am really excited about the shoes!! Particularly, the blue pumps above and the fancy strappy ones below:
Speaking of shoes, am looking forward to the Spring collection at J.Crew…shoes look promising per below. Also, waiting on the lime dress with front slit…lime green for spring? Check!
Which items caught your eyes for Fall 2014 presentation? Do share!

I recently came across Badgley Mischka’s video for their spring 2014 line at the Mercedes Benz NYC Fashion Week…feminine and elegant. Loving a lot!

Ituen Basi is a Nigerian (West Africa) designer with a very interesting portfolio. She graduated from the Nigerian University of Ife and went on to work for various designers in London. She has won multiple awards as Emerging Designer (African Fashion Week, Joburg 2011), Most Creative Designer (Arise Magazine Fashion Week, 2011) and Designer of the Year (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Joburg 2012). Her moto is “it’s in the details”. Indeed, her details are exquisite.
Below, some of her designs that I have particularly liked. Let me know which is your favorite. Images courtery of ituenbasi.co.uk and hautefashionafrica.com.
I love the skinny pants and the drape at the shoulder, reminiscing of traditional jewelries.
Showing just enough, a little shoulder while everything else is covered. Very classy!
Not crazy about the hoop chain, but all for the peplum and busy print!
