The African Designer spotlight this week is on Sika Designs, a UK based Ghanaian inspired fashion house. Their fabrics are 100% cotton and 100% silk and Ghanaian made. I was particularly impressed by the FloraFauna Collection….loving the long-sleeved blue dress, the vibrant green one-shoulder and the combination or blue and orange! You can access their online shop HERE. My favorite below!

A random purchase that has been my go-to with the heavy snows we have experienced this winter. Unfortunately, the Kinley booties are only available in black at the Cole Haan online store so you may want to checkout the Cole Haan store in person…or this ebay sale for a size 10 (disclaimer: I am NOT affiliated to the vendor in any way, found the link via a random Google search). A link to the longer, more conventional version here.
My review of the short boots below.
Pros: waterproof (yay, I was very skeptical but they hold up very well!), comfortable, can wear all day long, nice almond color, great quality on leather, flat heels
Cons: the fit at the ankles is not my favorite. Compared to the MK Arley, the ankles in these Kinley are pretty loose and no option to tighten…so your socks will show up, which may be good for some and a deal breaker for others
Material: breathable and waterproof leather (whatever that means) with rubber sole
Fit: true-to-size with room for heavy socks; loose fit at the ankles
Sissi’s Verdict: the store was offering a 50% promo with extra 20% sale coupon at the time of purchase, so the final price was a bargain for the quality and through wear during winter storms, the booties are a definite keeper!

In case you are a lingerie lover, you may be interested in a blog I recently found online: The Lingerie Addict. Interesting tips 🙂
About two weeks ago, while walking around during my lunch break, I saw a lady with a green sweater dress and boots. I liked the silhouette of the dress but could not quite figure out its designer. When I went home that evening, the Boden catalog was waiting for me with a gift card and…a picture of the Libby dress…the same exact dress I saw earlier during the day! Now, no shopping fairy or any such superstition. Simple coincidence ….and inconvenience for my wallet…but I digress.
The dress arrived, the color is the same gorgeous green as seen on the website. The dress is made of 90% of a sturdy cotton, with a flare line. The fit is true-to-size running a little big, and the tall length still did not fully hit my knees but the dress looks decent. Pictures below, let me know what you think!
