A&F: Designer Spotlight on Ohema Ohene

This week’s spotlight is on this London-based Ghanaian brand: Ohema Ohene.  The brand focuses on “African fashion with a British twist” (male, female, accessories and shoes) per their website.  The company was created by British born designer Abenaa Pokuaa, a graduate of London College of Fashion in the field of Fashion Design Technology.

What I find interesting is that the name means “Queen and King” in Twi language (a Ghanaian language).  Abenaa’s designs are stylish, a mixture of Western and African worlds.  She will be on my watch list!  Some designs below, am particularly impressed by her men’s line (liking the sneakers!).

Also found an interesting article over at AfricaFashionGuide with Abenaa’s winter collection 2011 entitled ‘Power Me’.
