A week in Tulum, Mexico

For our first year anniversary, we spent time at the all-inclusive Dreams Tulum Resort on the Riviera Maya in Tulum, Mexico.  The weather is quite hot and humid in Mexico in August but we had a wonderful time nonetheless, enjoyed the food, the beach (despite the irregular surplus of algae) and touring the Mayan ruins of Tulum and Chichen Itza.

Wishlist: End of December 2013 New Arrivals at J.Crew and A Scarf Face-off

Saw some new updates on Friday Dec. 27th 2013.  While most look to be a slight variation of previous offerings, I am fond of two new prints: the Misty Fog and the Moonglow Paisley.  J.Crew is offering each in dresses, tops and/or shorts (why not  skirts 😦 ). Also, while perusing Banana Republic’s website, I came across their floral statement scarf….similar to the Hothouse floral scarf from J.Crew that you can see on Ina. Hmmmm

Outfit Inspiration: Swiss dots and Gingham

The weather has been fairly moody this week: unexpected warmth, rain then chilly wind.  The rain was screaming for some gingham so out came these Ralph Lauren boots purchased in Seattle, WA (note to self to visit Seattle when it is NOT raining).  I have paired them with the simple ponte peplum tee from J.Crew and some old BR skirt (I love the zipper effect created by pairing both items together).

The swiss dot tippi was a hot item last fall because of some celebrity wearing it (I want to say it was Katie Holmes, but not positively certain).  In any case, I was able to grab it on promo back then and am glad I did.

On a side note, I saw these very cute gloves at Anthropologies…and they get cuter here (I personally prefer the red leather driving gloves!)
